The decision will apply to all examinations conducted from the 2026-27 academic year onwards. The rule was approved following decisions taken by the Board of Examinations and Evaluation, Management Council and Academic Council.
The university said students need to complete several formalities before entering the examination hall. These include identity verification, checking of documents, seating arrangements and other examination-related procedures.
The new rule is aimed at avoiding problems caused by students arriving at the last minute. For example, if an examination is scheduled to begin at 10.30 am, students must be present in the examination hall by 10 am.
The university has asked students not to wait until the last moment to reach the examination centre. They have been advised to plan their travel and complete the necessary preparations in advance.
The university has also instructed directors and heads of various academic departments, principals of affiliated, conducted and autonomous colleges, directors of recognised institutions, and coordinators of different university sub-centres to inform students, teachers and examination staff about the new rule.
Dr Pooja Raundale, Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation, has asked the concerned authorities to ensure strict implementation of the instruction.
Students have also been urged to follow all university examination rules and instructions and cooperate with examination officers and staff to ensure that the exams are conducted smoothly and in a disciplined manner.
