India is set to host its first official Formula 1 Sim Racing India Open, marking a major step for motorsport gaming in the country.

The championship has been launched by Mumbai Falcons after receiving official rights from Formula One Group to host the 2026 event.

The competition aims to build a clear path for talented gamers to move from virtual racing into professional motorsport opportunities.

Registrations for the championship will open on April 30 through the MFRL app, available on both Android and iOS platforms. Participants can compete using PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox.

The tournament will be played on the F1 25 game. It will begin with online qualifiers, followed by city-based rounds across India. The top performers will then move to the national final, which is scheduled to be held in Mumbai in November 2026.

Former Narain Karthikeyan welcomed the move, saying India’s large Formula 1 fanbase and growing gaming culture make this the right time for an official sim racing championship.

Officials said the Indian competition will feature the same tracks, race formats and team liveries seen in global F1 sim racing events, giving players an authentic racing experience.

With Formula 1’s backing, this championship could become an important platform for discovering new racing talent in India.
