Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will stop all flight operations for a few hours on May 7. The airport will shut both its runways from 11 am to 5 pm as part of its yearly pre-monsoon maintenance work.

During this six-hour period, there will be no flight arrivals or departures. Passengers travelling on that day are advised to check their flight timings in advance.

The maintenance work will focus on checking the condition of both runways. Teams will inspect the surfaces, look for any damage, and carry out necessary repairs. The main runway (09/27) and the secondary runway (14/32) will both be covered during this process.

This yearly exercise is important to keep the airport safe, especially before the monsoon season begins. Officials will use modern equipment and keep a close watch to make sure all work is finished on time.

The airport operator, Mumbai International Airport Limited, had already informed airlines and other stakeholders in advance. This helped airlines adjust their schedules and reduce trouble for passengers.

The plan is to manage operations smoothly while keeping passenger safety and airport efficiency as the top priority.
