The block will impact several suburban and long-distance train services between Thane, Kalyan, Panvel and Vashi. Some trains will be diverted, delayed or cancelled during the day.
According to railway officials, the block on the UP and DOWN fast lines between Thane and Kalyan will remain in effect from 10:40 am to 3:40 pm.
During this time, down fast and semi-fast local trains leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 9:34 am and 3:03 pm will run on the slow line between Thane and Kalyan.
These trains will make additional halts at Kalva, Mumbra and Diva stations. Officials said passengers may face delays of around 10 minutes.
Similarly, up fast and semi-fast services departing from Kalyan between 10:28 am and 3:40 pm will also run through the slow corridor.
These trains will stop at Diva, Mumbra and Kalva before being diverted again at Mulund. Passengers are likely to experience delays of nearly 10 minutes on these services as well.
Several Mail and Express trains will also operate on different routes during the block period.
Down Mail and Express trains departing from CSMT or Dadar will use the 5th line between Thane and Kalyan. Meanwhile, up Mail and Express trains heading towards CSMT or Dadar will run on the 6th line between Kalyan and Thane.
Apart from the Main Line block, Central Railway will also carry out a separate mega block on the Harbour Line between Panvel and Vashi from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm. However, the Port Line will continue operating normally.
During the block hours, several Harbour and Trans-Harbour services will remain cancelled.
UP Harbour Line services towards CSMT leaving Panvel between 10:33 am and 3:49 pm will not operate. DOWN Harbour services towards Belapur and Panvel departing from CSMT between 9:45 am and 3:12 pm will also remain cancelled.
On the Trans-Harbour route, UP services towards Mega Block Today: Thane leaving Panvel between 11:02 am and 3:53 pm will be cancelled. DOWN services towards Panvel departing from Thane between 10:01 am and 3:20 pm will also not run.
To reduce inconvenience for commuters, Central Railway will run special local services between CSMT Mumbai and Vashi during the block period.
Officials said Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations will continue as usual.
Railway authorities said the maintenance work is important for infrastructure safety and appealed to passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
