Fresh power cuts were reported from Bhawani Shankar Road in Dadar West, parts of Lalbaug, Byculla and Grant Road West.
Residents said the outages have become a regular problem over the past week, especially during the night, causing major inconvenience to families.
Many people complained that the cuts were affecting sleep and daily routines as fans, coolers and other appliances stopped working during hot and humid nights.
Senior citizens and children were among the worst affected, with several families forced to spend hours in dark and uncomfortable rooms.
Apart from electricity supply, residents also faced problems with lifts and water pumps inside residential buildings.
People said water storage systems stopped functioning during the outages, while many residents living on upper floors struggled because lifts were not working.
Some citizens claimed the timing of the power cuts keeps changing, making it difficult to prepare in advance.
Power disruptions were also reported in parts of Andheri West, Malad and Goregaon, where residents took to social media to complain about repeated electricity failures.
A resident from Malad said there had been multiple power cuts lasting up to four hours during the past week.
Another resident claimed the area had been facing outages almost every alternate day over the last month.
People from Goregaon also reported repeated electricity failures during afternoons and late-night hours.
The complaints have come at a time when Mumbai’s electricity demand has increased sharply due to rising temperatures.
According to reports, the city’s peak power demand recently crossed 4,500 MW, putting extra pressure on the power distribution network.
Activists said Mumbai had not witnessed such frequent power cuts in the past and criticised authorities for relying on temporary fixes instead of solving the core problems.
Officials have not issued any detailed statement regarding Wednesday’s outages. In earlier cases, utilities had blamed cable faults, transformer trips and feeder failures for the disruptions.
However, many residents believe the repeated outages point towards larger infrastructure and maintenance issues that require urgent attention.
