The Mumbai Police have deployed seven additional commissioners of police, 37 deputy commissioners and 52 assistant commissioners, along with 2,650 officers and 14,150 police personnel for festival security.
Regular police teams have been deployed at important locations across the city. In addition, State Reserve Police Force teams, Quick Response Teams, riot control units and Home Guards have also been assigned for security duties.
Special security arrangements have been planned for the day of Ganpati idol immersion, when large crowds and processions are expected across Mumbai. Additional personnel will be deployed for the immersion day.
Police have appealed to citizens to remain patient in crowded areas and cooperate with security personnel.
Citizens have also been asked to immediately inform the police if they find any unattended or suspicious object. Police have specifically advised people not to touch or move such objects.
The security deployment is aimed at ensuring that Ganeshotsav celebrations and immersion processions take place safely and without major disruptions across the city.
