Security was tightened at two of Mumbai’s top hotels after a threat call warned of a possible terror attack, officials said on Wednesday.

The call mentioned the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Trident Hotel, prompting immediate action from hotel authorities and the police. Both locations were placed on high alert as soon as the information was received.

Police teams, along with bomb detection and disposal squads and dog units, carried out detailed checks across the hotel premises. Entry and exit points were closely monitored, and surveillance was increased to avoid any risk.

During the investigation, Mumbai Police traced the call and detained a suspect from the Sion area. The man is currently in custody and being questioned to understand the reason behind the threat.

Initial findings suggest that the accused made the call while under the influence of alcohol and may have been dealing with personal issues at the time. He reportedly works in housekeeping.

After thorough checks, officials confirmed that the threat was a hoax call and no suspicious items were found at either hotel.

Police said the situation is now under control, but security remains tight as a precaution.
