The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation said the expressway will remain closed for 3 hours each day, from 12 noon to 3 pm. The restriction will be applied in phases for traffic moving towards both Mumbai and Pune.
The block is being enforced for essential bridge maintenance work near Dongargaon–Kusgaon. Officials said the work includes shuttering removal and painting, which is important for long-term infrastructure safety.
To manage traffic, authorities have announced diversion routes. Vehicles travelling from Mumbai will be redirected via Kiwale, Dehu Road and Talegaon, before joining National Highway 48 and re-entering the expressway near Kusgaon toll plaza.
Similarly, vehicles heading towards Pune will be diverted from Kusgaon through NH-48 and the Dehu Road–Kiwale route.
Officials have advised travellers to plan their journey in advance and avoid peak hours during the block period. The expressway is one of the busiest routes in the state, and the closure may lead to traffic delays.
For assistance, commuters can contact the MSRDC control room or the highway police helpline.
