The two new train services will run on Varanasi to Hadapsar in Pune and Ayodhya Cantt to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai. The move is expected to help daily commuters, migrant workers and pilgrims travelling between the two states.
Railway officials said the new direct trains will make travel easier by reducing the need for passengers to change trains during long journeys.
The Varanasi-Hadapsar Amrit Bharat Express is expected to improve access for devotees visiting Kashi Vishwanath Dham, while the Ayodhya-Mumbai service will make travel more convenient for pilgrims heading to the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
The Varanasi to Pune train will pass through major stations including Prayagraj, Jhansi, Bhopal, Manmad and Kopargaon before reaching Hadapsar. The full journey is expected to take around 30 hours.
The Ayodhya to Mumbai train will cover important stops such as Sultanpur, Prayagraj, Satna, Jabalpur, Itarsi, Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Kalyan and Thane before reaching Mumbai. This journey is expected to take nearly 28 hours.
According to the Railway Ministry, Amrit Bharat trains have been designed for common passengers, offering better comfort and convenience at affordable fares.
Officials said scheduled operations for both trains will be announced soon after the inaugural runs are completed.
Railway authorities also noted that fares on Amrit Bharat trains are expected to be around 15 to 17 per cent higher than regular Mail and Express train services.
The new services are likely to strengthen tourism, improve long-distance travel and offer better rail connectivity between two of India’s major states.
