The disruption reportedly began around 8 am, leaving passengers stranded at multiple metro stations across the route.
According to officials from Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL), the issue was caused due to a technical fault affecting both the up and down lines.
Metro authorities later said the problem had been fixed and normal train operations were restored.
During the disruption, passengers were forced to wait for long periods inside stations, while metro staff temporarily restricted entry at several locations to control overcrowding.
Many commuters complained about the lack of proper communication from metro authorities during the incident.
Some passengers said they waited for more than an hour without receiving clear updates about when train services would resume.
A commuter named Ishan Tanna shared on X that there was “absolute chaos” at Aqua Line stations, with passengers confused and stranded due to the delays.
Several commuters also said they left metro stations midway because of the heavy crowds and shifted to Mumbai local trains instead.
Passengers further claimed that cooling systems at some stations were not functioning properly during the disruption.
Adding to the inconvenience, commuters said poor mobile network connectivity inside stations made it difficult to contact family members or get updates about the situation.
The incident caused major inconvenience for office-goers travelling during the busy morning rush hour.
