The boy, identified as Ansh Gupta, was crossing the road when an Innova Crysta allegedly approached at high speed and hit him.
According to preliminary information, the car was being driven by a woman identified as Megha Rawal. Police have arrested the driver in connection with the accident.
The impact left Ansh seriously injured. Local residents rushed to the spot and took him to Holy Family Hospital for treatment. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
The incident took place on August 30. Witnesses reportedly informed the police soon after the accident. Bandra police reached the spot and took control of the situation.
Police also took the car into custody and detained the woman driver. A case has been registered against her, and she has been arrested as part of the investigation.
According to allegations in the complaint, the woman was driving at a high speed and in a rash and negligent manner. It has also been alleged that she was speaking on her mobile phone while driving.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the accident, including the speed of the vehicle and the allegations regarding mobile phone use.
Ansh’s body was sent to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination.
