The actor shared several videos on her Instagram Stories, claiming she was taken into custody despite standing peacefully on the roadside. According to Ayesha, she had not participated in any protest or raised slogans before the police intervened.
In one of the videos, Ayesha appeared visibly emotional and said her hands were shaking after being detained. She claimed she was standing near the protest site because her brother and a few friends had already been taken into a police vehicle.
Another video showed her asking police officials where the detained protesters were being taken. In a separate clip, she requested officers not to push her while escorting her to the police van.
The protest in Mumbai was organised in support of student demonstrations taking place in Delhi over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Similar protests have been reported in several cities in recent days.
In a longer video recorded from Worli Police Station, Ayesha said she reached the protest venue at around 4 pm to express solidarity with NEET aspirants and families affected by student suicides.
She alleged that the group had not even started protesting when police stepped in. According to her, they had not raised slogans or displayed placards and were only standing near the roadside after some protesters had been detained.
Ayesha claimed that around 15 police personnel, including women officers, surrounded her and two of her female friends before asking them to get into the police van. She said they repeatedly asked why they were being detained but did not receive a clear explanation.
The actress further alleged that she and her friends were pushed while being taken into custody. Although she said the officers at the police station behaved politely, she questioned why they had been detained despite, according to her, not violating any law.
Ayesha Khan first gained national recognition after appearing as a wildcard contestant on Bigg Boss 17. She recently attracted wider attention with her appearance in the hit song Shararat from the film Dhurandhar. She has also worked in television, films, and music videos and remains active on social media.
